Wrong Button

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Over Christmas weekend I borrowed my mom’s car so that I could actually get around to all of the various activities and errands I needed to do. The weather was not terrible, but the windshield washer was refusing to work so after only about 5 minutes of driving I’d have to start squinting out of the few unsalted spots on the windshield to see. I bought new fluid figuring that it was empty but when I looked under the hood I saw this was not the case. I managed the rest of the weekend by splashing cleaner from the surplus bottle right onto the windshield any time I got out of the car.

When I returned the car my mother kindly pointed out I’d been hitting the wrong button to activate the perfectly functioning washers. Way to go me.

Cold

I attempted to put the plastic wrap window insulation on some particularly drafty windows in the house today and majorily failed. Out of a thee pack I actually got one sheet of plastic up. The first one was mangled by scissors that were too dull, I managed to get the second one up, and then I ran out of tape before the third could be finished. It only took 2 hours.

Looking Dumb

Once again I took the bus to get groceries. Once again the bus bested me. This time I managed not to lose anything but I did miss my stop due to being so grocery-laden that I couldn’t get to the door in time. Yeah, I actually heard somebody laugh at me for that.

Just Stay Home

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

I have failed miserably at running basic errands without a car once again. I used to be so good at this.

To start the day I took my bike up to the grocery store for some unhealthy snacks for tonight’s video game marathon. I was way too exhausted for such a simple task and that only made the return trip with the awkward off-balanced groceries that much worse. As I was finally approaching the home stretch I noticed I was barely moving at all and then I heard and awesome flump-flump-flump sound. Totally flat tire. I take the bike out once every two months and it seems that nearly every time I do I get a flat. FAIL.

I finally made it home and just decided I’d take the bike to the nearby bike shop and then pick up booze from the liquor store a few blocks away. Well, I walked all the way over there to find out that both are closed. Awesome. I walked about 15 blocks for nothing and will have to repeat the walk again in an hour.

At least I’m getting exercise?
