Ok, so this blog has turned into being only about my commutes to and from work, but I’ll be damned if they’re not full of inordinate amounts of fail. After my bike fell apart last week I pieced it back together and ended the week well. I thought I’d finally have a problem-free week but on Monday I discovered a flat tire. I aired it up and it seemed ok until it was flat again this morning. I guess I have a slow leak somewhere so I’m using the backup bike for the rest of the week. 4 weeks of bike commuting, 3 weeks of massive fail so far.

Out of a thee pack I actually got one sheet of plastic up. The first one was mangled by scissors that were too dull, I managed to get the second one up, and then I ran out of tape before the third could be finished. It only took 2 hours.

I spent 2 frustrating hours last night trying to get the burger gallery posted below to appear as a lightbox style gallery and somehow ran into tons of problems. Today I tried again and it worked within 30 seconds. WTF? I unfortunately had to mess with the code a bit to get the page to validate, so now the gallery isn’t as flexible as it once was, and somehow there’s a javascript error on page load but it all works anyway? I’m just going to call this done after 4 mostly wasted hours.

So, America lost a true legend last week. No, not Michael Jackson, not Ed McMahon, not Farrah Fawcet, but Billy Mays. That man shouted, and he had a beard, he sold us crappy products and god damnit I am going to miss him. As an attempt to pay tribute to him, I decided to let my patchy, baby-hamster-like facial hair grow as long as I’ve ever let it grow. Given the long weekend I figured I could at least get an 8th grade goatee or throat-beard before shaving for Monday, but man did I fail miserably. I should have taken pictures because I sure looked awful, but I think I can describe it fairly well. Decent sideburns, but only in the mutton chop area – completely disconnected from the hair on my temple. Thin molestache, patchy spots all down my throat, and a decent lower chin but certainly not enough for a real goatee. Sadly, the most consistent area of hair I had were the throat patches which connect to my hairy neck. I guess I’ll just keep shaving regularily, though there’s nothing more insulting than shaving every day but still not being able to grow any facial hair at all.
