Same Old Story

April 28th, 2010

Ok, so this blog has turned into being only about my commutes to and from work, but I’ll be damned if they’re not full of inordinate amounts of fail. After my bike fell apart last week I pieced it back together and ended the week well. I thought I’d finally have a problem-free week but on Monday I discovered a flat tire. I aired it up and it seemed ok until it was flat again this morning. I guess I have a slow leak somewhere so I’m using the backup bike for the rest of the week. 4 weeks of bike commuting, 3 weeks of massive fail so far.

Another Terrible Commute

April 21st, 2010

So, recall that yesterday I made it a mile into my bike commute before having to turn back because I forgot a change of clothes to wear at work. Today I made it to pretty much the same spot before a screw fell off the bike, presumably from nearly a month of hitting enormous potholes, and my bike rack and saddlebags fell into the back tire. Once again I had to turn back, this time picking up my girlfriend’s bike and then return to work, arriving 30 minutes late.

Out of it

April 20th, 2010

I was ridiculously tired last night and this morning and it showed as I finally made it out the door for work. I biked about one mile and then realized I forgot to bring a dress shirt to wear at work so I had to turn back and pick one up. I then repeated that leg of the journey, now a full 20 minutes late and managed to cut off a fire truck with lights and sirens blaring. After the 30 minutes of biking and the near collision I am finally awake but I think I’ll be going to bed earlier tonight.

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaat

April 19th, 2010

A bacon cheeseburger with fries and a beer followed by chocolate waffles and ice cream is not exactly sticking to the diet. Also, I still drank a total of 9 drinks last week despite trying to cut back on booze. Looks like I’ll need to bike extra hard to  and from work this week.

Damn those 88s

April 16th, 2010

I’m playing through Brothers in Arms again in my spare time, this time on the more difficult setting. I died instantly about 10 times in a row at the exact same part where I had to run across a road with my squad while an 88mm cannon was pointed directly us. Boom. Death. Sad.

Simple Math

Mostly salad diet + 3 strong German beers + 1 Irish whiskey + late night chips and salsa = less than happy stomach the next day

Only a Flesh Wound

I’m 25, could I stop getting bad pimple outbreaks already? It looks like I took a 9mm to the forehead right now.

Locked Out

April 12th, 2010

I took the bike to work today with my change of clothes in my backpack and was all excited to use my  new locker at work. Well, as you might have guessed, I didn’t have my locker combo memorized nor did I write it down anywhere so I had to go to my desk wearing my bike gear, find the small slip of paper where I have the combo, and then go back upstairs to change. Mini fail.

Action Hero

April 10th, 2010

I went to the Milwaukee Admirals hockey game last night which was then followed by a free concert from KC and the Sunshine Band. Overall, it was a great night as the Admirals won 8-1 and the concert was actually pretty enjoyable. As we were leaving, I decided to be cool by kicking open the doors to the street and strutting through. Unfortunately, I then tripped on the frame of the door and stumbled out onto the street like a jackass.

Goooooooooaaaaaaal

So, I managed to snag free tickets to the MLS Championship between the Wave and LaRaZa here in Milwaukee. It was a crappy time, 5:00pm on Easter Sunday, but I had no other plans so I waited anxiously with my pair of tickets all week. The only problem was that nobody else wanted to go. So instead I watched the game at home which the wave lost horribly by going up 6-0 and then letting LaRaZa score 15 unanswered points.
